How To Join The Local 517 Workforce

Local #517 Public Employees are poised for growth and you can become a member too! Join together with other proud and respected workers of Local #517. Applications are accepted in-person at the Local Office on Tuesdays at 9 a.m. through 12:00 p.m. (Noon). For experienced applicants there may be immediate opportunities. For those applicants who do not have past experience or training, can get enrolled in the Local #517 Apprenticeship program to earn while they learn!

Congress passed the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) in 1935. Section Seven (7) states:" employees SHALL have the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining or other mutual aid and protection," as well as the right to refrain from engaging in any of those activities.

The fact that some employees in the US are not given this right, or are having this right taken from them, through the actions of state legislatures, is an all-out assault on working families. The Laborers' Union represents more than 500,000 working people who demand a living wage and health coverage, safer job sites and a voice for working people all across North America! Members of the Laborers' Union belong to one of the fastest-growing unions in North America. Help build America by joining with other proud construction workers of Local #517.
